Virginia ALERT: Legislative Update 1/22/16 – Good Day for Gun Owners!
Covington, VA -(Ammoland.com)- Important pro-gun bills advanced in the House Militia, Police, and Public Safety subcommittee #1 on Thursday.
Those that passed will head to the full committee next week. Remember that you can keep track of the progress of gun bills using the VCDL Legislative Tracking System on VCDL’s website:
BILLS PASSING OUT OF SUBCOMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY:
- HB 206, Delegate Webert, STRONGLY SUPPORT, eliminates the requirement for a second form of ID when purchasing a firearm.
- HB 766, Delegate Gilbert, STRONGLY SUPPORT, a protective order will act as a CHP while the order is in effect.
- HB 810, Delegate Lingamfelter, STRONGLY SUPPORT, removes the requirement to show proof of citizenship to purchase an “assault firearm.”
BILLS PASSING OUT OF SUBCOMMITTEE BY A 4 TO 1 VOTE:
- HB 90, Delegate Taylor, STRONGLY SUPPORT, allows Virginia National Guard members with CHPs to carry at National Guard facilities.
- HB 382, Delegate Fowler, STRONGLY SUPPORT, allows a state agency employee to store a firearm in their private locked vehicle while at work.
- HB 1096, Delegate Webert, STRONGLY SUPPORT, state-agency preemption bill.
- HB 1107, Delegate Lingamfelter, SUPPORT, reinstates recognition of all out-of-state CHPs that were accepted on or before 12/1/2015. It …Read the Rest
