Have you ever wanted to know what goes through the mind of an elite Marine scout sniper before pulling the trigger? The Defense Video & Imagery Distribution System (DVIDS) — the media and public relations arm of the U.S. military — has released an awesome new video that takes the viewer inside that thought process.

The footage was taken during Forest Light 17-1, a bi-lateral exercise involving the III Marine Expeditionary Force and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force.

Exercise Forest Light 17-1 took place between March 5 and March 17 at Camp Soumagahara, Gunma Prefecture, Japan. The Corps says it’s designed to demonstrate both countries’ enduring commitment to peace, stability, and security across the region.

After watching the video above, we get the feeling that the region is in good hands.
