US Army Releases RFI for New Sub Compact Weapons
Project Manager Soldier Weapons (PM SW) recently issued a RFI through U.S. Army Contracting Command-New Jersey (ACC-NJ) looking for industry feedback on what it calls “Sub Compact Weapons (SCW).”

Details are scant, but according to the RFI, the Army is looking for a weapon chambered in 9x19mm. In addition, the system is described as “full/semi-automatic selectable” with a MIL-STD 1913 rail (Picatinny rail). The service doesn’t just want the weapon itself, either. It’s also looking for magazines, cleaning kits, suppressors, specialized tool kits (if required), spare parts, slings, carrying cases and manuals.
The RFI then outlines a series of questions to which it wants industry to respond. Here they are:
