As part of their December 2017 premier firearms auction, the Rock Island Auction Company is offering J. Edgar Hoover’s combat Magnum revolver.
Described by the auction company as “impeccable provenance and craftsmanship that defies belief,” the Smith & Wesson .357 revolver was presented to Hoover, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, by William Sweet in 1934. The company said the exquisite piece was made possible through “the perfect storm of connections.”
