On today’s program, we dive into the three most likely gun control proposals to be taken up by Congress when lawmakers return from the August recess; “red flag” firearms laws, “universal background checks”, and an “assault weapons” ban.

We also speak with JT Lewis, whose younger brother was murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012. Now 19, Lewis is running for state Senate in Connecticut in the hopes of improving school safety and preventing future attacks from taking place.

Rob O’Donnell spent 20 years in the NYPD, and he lends his expertise to a discussion on the issues surrounding “red flag” firearms laws and the unintended consequences of the legislation.
