The SureFire Aviator is getting an update for 2017.

The Fountain Valley, Calif.-based company announced that this classic flashlight — originally made for pilots — will now feature a dual-output white primary LED and secondary colored LED in one sealed head, both focused via a TIR (Total Internal Reflection) lens into a user-friendly beam with considerable reach and surround light.

According to the press release, the SureFire Aviator can be easily switched from white light to colored light with a simple pull and twist of its self-locking bezel selector switch. There’s no filter required, and that’s a good thing, because they can break or open by accident at the most inopportune times.

The secondary LEDs for the rugged, compact Aviator come in four colors: red, blue, amber and yellow-green. These colors, SureFire says, preserve night-adapted vision and prevent eye fatigue. Depending on the color you choose, they also cut through fog, help locate blood trails or hydraulic fluid leaks, improve contrast and even work well with night vision devices.

MSRP for the SureFire Aviator is $289.59. See below for specs.
