The good old rimmed military cartridge invented by Russian Col. Sergei Mosin back in 1891 is still kicking today. Used in Mosin’s long-running series of bolt-action rifles, which are arguably the most prolific infantry weapon of the 20th Century, the 7.62x54R is still in active use in various machine gun and designated marksman rifle designs today while some new-made Vepr models continue to utilize the round.
