Tennessee lawmakers have passed bills that would allow people to use suppressors on guns and to bring guns on boats, the Associated Press reported.
The Tennessee Hearing Protection Act, also known as Senate Bill 921, was passed on a 28-1 vote in the Senate on Monday and now heads to the House for consideration.
Sponsored by Republican Sen. Steve Southerland, the measure would allow the use of suppressors on firearms in the state of Tennessee. Supporters have pushed the legislation as a way to protect sportsmen’s hearing.
House Bill 688, sponsored by Republican Rep. Micah Van Huss, would allow lawful gun owners to carry their firearms onto recreational vehicles and boats.
The measure was approved unanimously in the Senate and will now make its way to Gov. Bill Haslam’s desk for signature.
