Talladega Police Officer Fired for Posting ‘Racist’ Facebook Memes

TALLADEGA, Ala. — A Talladega police officer has been fired after sharing posts on Facebook that many consider racist.
Talladega City Manager Patrick Bryant confirmed that officer Joel Husk was terminated for content posted on his personal Facebook page earlier this week.
On one post, Husk shared a picture from the Facebook group “Last American Patriots” that showed bodies lying on a battlefield with the caption “Over 620,000 white people died to free black slaves and still to this day not even 1 thank you.”
The second post on Husk’s Facebook page was shared from the groups “Donald Trump, The Political Movement.” The post had a picture of first lady-elect Melania Trump with the words “Fluent in Slovenian, English, French, Serbian and German,” and below was of picture of first lady Michelle Obama with the words “Fluent In Ghetto.”
Bryant said Husk’s posts violated a long-standing policy of the Talladega Police Department.
