Springfield Armory released Wednesday the newest in the Saint (in all caps, please) platform, adding a pistol model to the line up.
“We’re always looking for new ways to give our customers more shooting options, and more firearm for the money,” said Dennis Reese, Springfield’s chief executive officer, in a statement. “The Saint AR-15 Pistol does both, and then some.”

Replacing the rifle buttstock, the Saint pistol features an SB Tactical fore-arm brace for controllability. The handgun is equipped with a stainless steel barrel with a 1-in-7-inch twist. The short 7.5-inch barrel puts the overall length at 26.5 inches and 6 pounds in weight. With the compactness, Springfield suggests the Saint pistol is “an ideal choice for home defense.”
Being built around the Saint design, the new gun features Springfield’s exclusive Accu-Tite tension system to strengthen the relationship between the upper and lower receivers. The gun’s muzzle includes a blast diverter that pushes sound, concussion and debris towards the target instead of the user and his armed compadres.
