Springfield Armory now shipping 911 .380 with black nitride finish (VIDEOS)

Illinois-based Springfield Armory announced Thursday they are expanding their line of lightweight 911 model single-stack handguns with a variant that isn’t quite as flashy as their normal stainless offering.
Featuring a 416 stainless slide and barrel treated in a corrosion-resistant black nitride finish, the new model 911 now shipping still uses a 7075 T6 aluminum frame to keep the svelte .380 ACP pistol down to 12.6-ounces in weight. Springfield said the nitriding process hardens the outermost layer of the frame, creating a finish more resilient to the abuses of inclement weather and strenuous use.
Like the standard 911 introduced earlier this year, the new model comes standard with a 5-pound short-reset pivoting trigger with a Hogue trigger shoe, green and black thin-line G10 Thin-line grip panels, full-length guide rod and tritium night sights.

…as well as a 7-shot extended mag. Also, note the extended ambi safety and loaded chamber indicator on the top of the slide.
MSRP for the 911 in either stainless or nitride finish is $599, while an optional integrated green Viridian grip laser would bring that up to $789.
