Sportsman Channel’s “Apex Predator” Stands Tall

New Berlin, Wis. –(Ammoland.com)- Remi Warren, host of Sportsman Channel’s original series Apex Predator, considers the Great Blue Heron to be one of North America’s most underappreciated predators. With its long legs and ability to strike like lightening when a prospective fish draws near, they are one of the continent’s most productive and successful hunters. In this week’s episode, Warren will attempt to adopt the massive bird’s predatory strategies by navigating the edges of Michigan waterways on stilts.

In an attempt to gain the perspective of the distinctive Great Blue Heron, Warren uses stilts to search Michigan waters for fish with a spear in hand. The view has its advantages, but Warren finds the refraction – a drawback the heron has adapted to – makes it difficult to know how far below the surface of the water his potential fare swims. Unaccustomed to the balancing act required to remain upright on stilts, after hours in the water, Warren begins to question his ability to hunt as a heron.
