AUGUSTA-(Ammoland.com)- Permits for the modern gun quota deer hunts for Bald Knob, Cache River and Wapanocca National Wildlife Refuges and archery permits for Holla Bend National Wildlife Refuge will be available only online, beginning with the 2016-17 season.

The announcement comes from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Central Arkansas Refuge Complex, which oversees activities and hunt permit system on the refuges. According to the press release,

The change to an online store is an effort to improve customer service to hunters, streamline operations and reduce administrative costs associated with refuge hunt programs. Visit www.fws.gov/cacheriver/ to purchase a permit on a first-come, first-served basis.

Muzzleloader and modern gun quota permit hunts for Dale Bumpers White River National Wildlife Refuges will continue to operate through a mail-in postcard application for the 2016-17 season. Visit https://www.fws.gov/refuge/white_river for instructions on applying to those hunts as well.

Hunters also have until July 1 to apply for special muzzleloader or modern gun permit hunts on Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife management areas. Visit www.agfc.com for details on applying for this year’s hunts.
