SilencerCo is generating quite the media firestorm today with their announcement of the Maxim 9, an integrally-suppressed 9mm pistol based off the Smith & Wesson M&P platform. The pistol will be holsterable and hearing safe with any factory ammunition.

SilencerCo releases the Maxim, an integrally suppressed 9mm pistol based off the S&W M&P platform. Chris Cheng got his hands on an initial prototype and demo’d the gun in international waters off Key West, FL.

I’m sure that like any prototype it probably has a little way to go before it’s in a final form, but its a very interesting concept, and I suspect that it could prove to be very popular.
