MOUNTAIN PINES, ARKANSAS — A local convenience store owner showed up to his shop a little after midnight when he heard alarms going off from his store. When he got inside, he saw a man with a gun and a bag of cash. He allegedly rushed behind the counter, grabbed a shotgun, and told the man to drop the gun. The man obviously thought he had the advantage and took a shot at the shopkeep. The shopkeep returned fire, striking the suspect in the face.

According to CBS THV 11 News, the burglar was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The shopkeep won’t be charged with any wrongdoing whatsoever because he had every right to defend himself and his property.

The shopkeep, in this case, had to go retrieve a gun before he could defend himself from an armed intruder. Can we see where this situation had some serious potential to go wrong?

There’s nothing wrong with using a gun to protect yourself and your property — especially from a bad guy with a gun.
