The following is from the ISSF World Shooting Championships and DPH Arms.

The way in which shooting can be competitive often baffles many people. Shooting is, in fact, a highly competitive sport, involving numerous skills, namely accuracy, agility, micro-coordination and patience, to name just a few.

The shooting sports can be sub-categorized by the type of firearm, targets, and distances at which the targets are shot. There are six main sub-categories and they are: action shooting, rifle shooting, pistol shooting, archery, shotgun shooting and crossbow.

Shooting is such a popular sport that it has been included at every Summer Olympics (except at the 1904 and 1928 editions). There are usually between fifteen to seventeen men’s and women’s events including air pistol, air rifle, rifle three position, skeet, trap, double trap and pistol.

The ISSF World Shooting Championships is another event, held every four years, where competitive shooters, can showcase their talents. This championship is governed by the International Shooting Sport Federation and it is considered a great honor to attend this event.
