Ruger introduces new Multi-Purpose Rifle to AR line-up

Based on their AR-556 series, the new Ruger MPR brings lots of M-Lok slots and Magpul furniture to a rifle they contend is up for “just about anything.”
The 5.56mm Multi-Purpose Rifle uses an 18-inch, 1-in-8 twist, nitrided alloy barrel with a rifle-length gas system clad in a 15-inch free-float handguard compatible with M-Lok slots along the 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00 positions. A STANAG 4649-spec Picatinny rail runs along the 12:00 position for optics. The lower is 7075-T6 aluminum and uses a 9310 peened and proofed bolt while Ruger’s Elite 452 two-stage trigger is standard.
“Our talented team of engineers worked carefully to develop the ideal custom package for the AR-556 platform that does it all, right out of the box,” said Chris Killoy, Ruger’s president, and CEO, in a statement. “From plinking to competition shooting, the MPR is the perfect rifle for just about anything.”
Besides the M-Lok system, the MPR uses a Magpul MOE grip, SL collapsible buttstock, and ships with a 30-round PMAG.
