LANCASTER, CA — A California security guard was faced with a life-and-death encounter with two armed robbers when they tried to make a quick buck at a local internet cafe, CBS Los Angeles reports.

Fortunately, he (or she) was up for the challenge, and one of those robbers wouldn’t survive the ordeal.

According to CBS Los Angeles:

A security guard shot and killed a male suspect during a robbery attempt at an internet cafe in Lancaster overnight Sunday. The robbery and shooting occurred at 12:45 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of West Lumber Street.

A security guard told Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies that two suspects entered the store and tried to rob it. That is when the security guard fired his gun, hitting one of the two suspects. The second suspect fled. The man was rushed to a hospital, where he died. His name was not released.

The circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.

Now, it’s awful easy to be a responsibly-armed citizen/employee when your job title is “security guard.” However, we’ve got to give credit where credit is due: it’s a separate matter entirely to draw and neutralize two people all by your lonesome.
