As we’ve noted in the past, most of Connecticut’s gun owners – those who own semi-auto rifles and standard capacity magazines who were supposed to register them under the post-Newtown gun control law rammed through by Gov. Dannel Malloy and the state legislature – raised a collective middle finger and stayed away in droves. The best guess is that only some 15% of the gear covered by the law was actually registered and we wondered what the state was going to do about it. If this report is accurate (it’s from the 27th most trusted source for public safety news, after all) they were considering sending cops door-to-door…until someone looked at the list of non-compliant gun owners . . .

…a print off of all sworn Law Enforcement officers in the state was obtained. Comparisons of the list of gun owners who failed to comply with registration requirements and sworn LEOs showed a startling figure. Just over 68% of Connecticut cops had failed to register firearms according to the new law.
