Nobody enjoys recoil, which was the genesis of Remington’s revolutionary design of the Versa Max shotgun. Remington engineers started with a simple question: What if you could design a 12-gauge shotgun that felt like shooting a 20-gauge?

And what if that gun could deliver 20-gauge felt recoil and reliably feed every time whether you loaded it with 2 ¾- 3- or 3 ½-inch Magnum shotshells? A tall order to be sure, but one that the Remington designers delivered when they rolled out the new Versa Max in 2010. They delivered a lot more of the little things that count as well.

Simple refinements, like a synthetic stock and fore-end with over-molded grips, a receiver drilled and tapped for scope mounting and an enlarged trigger guard and oversized safety button to easily accommodate shooters wearing gloves, make this shotgun super versatile. And internal features like, Barrel and Nickel Teflon plated internal components that provide a strong defense against corrosion, were simply smart engineering.

Reduced recoil and the ability to digest a variety of loads from 2 3/4- to 31/2-inch shotshells are hallmarks of the Remington Versa Max.
