Illinois – -(Ammoland.com)- With the July 4th weekend being a 3-day holiday this year, I decided to take a few days off and head west to Big Sky country.

As I write this, I am in Gardiner, Montana. Gardiner is a tourist town split by the Yellowstone River, nestled in the mountains at the northern entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Today we arrived at the Super 8 Motel.

We were greeted by a young elk who wandered down the street and was last seen munching peacefully in the neighbor’s yard. The maintenance man tells me the elk is a regular around here lately. After the elk, my wife and I headed to the Iron Horse Bar & Grill, and while watching the rafters float down the Yellowstone, we enjoyed an elk burger and hamburger. The mountain peaks near Gardiner are still adorned by traces of snow. On the way here, the landscape was dotted with ranches, hay, corn and wheat fields, each situated in a more beautiful setting than the last. …Read the Rest
