Just yesterday Tactical-Life reported that Barrett’s MRAD won the coveted U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Advanced Sniper Contract. Meanwhile, Barrett just released more info to Tactical-Life, including caliber information and comments from two proud Barretts, Ronnie and Chris.

US Army Awards Barrett .50 Caliber Sniper Rifle Contract

Firstly, the U.S. Department of Defense announced the award on Monday. Moreover, Barrett announced in a press release the MRAD (Multi-Role Adaptive Design) Rifle as the new Advanced Sniper Rifle in support of USSOCOM.

USSOCOM announced in 2016 they were in search of a modular, multi-caliber bolt action sniper rifle capable of converting between 7.62x51mm, .300 Norma Magnum (NM) and .338 Norma Magnum (NM) through a “full and open competition.” Further, the Barrett MRAD is designed with precision and modularity in mind and will serve the U.S. special operations teams in their efforts, according to Barrett.
