On February 14th 2018, an extremely mentally-ill person opened fire on his former classmates at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. There was armed resistance on campus at the time, and the video above shows that little nothing was done to try and stop the gunman.

Newly released surveillance footage appears to support the Broward sheriff’s account that a campus deputy rushed to the Parkland high school building where a mass shooting was unfolding — but never entered to engage the gunman.

Authorities on Thursday released the video showing Deputy Scot Peterson and a civilian security guard hurrying on a golf cart to Building 12 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in the initial moments of what became Florida’s deadliest school shooting.

The department made a brief statement with the release of the video, saying; “The video speaks for itself. His actions were enough to warrant an internal affairs investigation, as requested by Sheriff Scott Israel on Feb. 21. After being suspended without pay, Peterson chose to resign and immediately retired rather than face possible termination.”

Peterson took heat shorting after the events of that day, and immediately resigned from his position and retired.
