On September 26, Pittsburgh Councilman Dan Gilman introduced ordinance 2017-1920 to amend Pittsburgh City Code in order to ban firearms in city parks. The new ordinance would prohibit the uncasing, possession, and use of firearms capable of discharging or propelling a projectile in City parks and playgrounds. Those in violation could be charged with the misdemeanor crime and would face up to $300 in fines and as much as 30 days in jail.
