St. Paul, MN -(Ammoland.com)- Pheasants Forever, joined by Governor Dennis Daugaard, will make a major announcement regarding the organization’s presence in South Dakota occurring in 2018.

Concerned over a dramatic loss of habitat and subsequent pheasant declines in South Dakota – the nation’s top pheasant state – Pheasants Forever opened its first regional headquarters office in Brookings in 2014. Since that time, the organization has participated in the Governor’s Pheasant Habitat Summit, piloted numerous habitat programs funded by the South Dakota Habitat Conservation Fund and implemented by the state’s 34 local chapters of Pheasants Forever, and improved more than 100,000 acres in the past year by working with landowners interested in voluntary conservation programs.

The upcoming announcement will serve as a platform for new habitat initiatives in South Dakota, and will kickoff Pheasants Forever’s organizational campaign throughout the state. South Dakota’s 34 Pheasants Forever chapters account for over 6,000 members statewide. Those chapters have spent nearly $5.5 million to complete 26,164 habitat projects since the first South Dakota chapter was formed. Those projects have improved over 437,000 acres for wildlife habitat conservation in the state.
