There are ways to train. And then there are ways that Pat McNamara trains. We should all opt for the latter.

His latest training exercise? McNamara decided to combine target shooting with 90-pound dumbbell snatches.

The standard part of McNamara’s training involves shooting the target at 25 yards in the following sequences:

  • Five shots with two hands
  • Five shots with your strong hand
  • Five shots with your support hand

Then McNamara throws something heavier in the mix: Two 90-pound dumbbell snatches with each arm prior to the set of five shots.

Watch the video above as McNamara tears through the drill in 64.64 seconds without missing a single shot. Hit the range and see if you can do better.

Experience speaks volumes, and McNamara has 22 years of special operations experience under his belt, 13 of which were in 1st SFOD-D. He has extensive experience in hostile fire/combat zones in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, allowing him to refine his operational methods based on real-world results in the field. He’s also a no-BS type of instructor, which is why we’re big fans.
