Olympians Dominate Rifle/Pistol National Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado-(Ammoland.com)- Two Olympians and a promising Olympic hopeful dominated their events to win national titles on a nine-hour day of exciting shooting action that included seven event Finals taking place at the 2019 USA Shooting Rifle/Pistol National Championships.

Olympic champion Ginny Thrasher (Springfield, Virginia), 2012 Olympian Nick Mowrer (WCAP/Butte, Montana) and Olympic hopeful Alexis Lagan (Boulder City, Nevada) were crowned National Champions in Three-Position Rifle, Men’s Air Pistol and Women’s Air Pistol at Pool Range Complex in Fort Benning, Georgia. Most notable was the dominating way in which each of them climbed to the top of the podium. Margins of victory of 15, 19 and 24 points, earning national titles before the Finals, and yet coming out and dominating their Finals as well with nothing really on the line.

Capturing Junior National Titles in those events were Katie Zaun (North Dakota), Luke Simon (Fargo, North Dakota) and Sarah Choe (Bridge Jr./Los Angeles, California).

The lone Paralympic final Wednesday was the P3 Air Pistol event and it would feature two U.S. medalists with YanXiao Gong (Bridge Jr./South Pasadena, California) earning a silver medal and Marco De La Rosa (San Antonio, Texas) the …Read the Rest
