WICHITA, KS — Early this month, a Wichita police officer who was not named was faced with a scenario many might consider to be their worst fear — a home intruder, armed, in the middle of the night, with the drop on him.

As the attacker started giving him orders, the officer took action to defend not only his life, but the life of his wife and children also in the home.

A full-on gunfight ensued.

As KWCH reports:

Wichita police released more information regarding a deadly officer-involved shooting which ended with a suspect dead and an off-duty officer injured.

Police say around 3:17 a.m., near 21st and Maize Road, a masked intruder came into the officer’s home through an unlocked door. He was armed with a handgun. The suspect shot the officer in the leg, and the officer returned fire with his service weapon. The suspect was hit several times.

Both men were transported to the hospital. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old, Christian T. Webb, died from his injuries. The officer has since been treated and released.
