Once upon a time, in a country that seems so far away now, our mothers and fathers used to teach us that if you don’t stand up to a bully, the bullying will only get worse!

I know what you’re thinking. In our politically correct culture today, our parents would most likely be accused of encouraging their minor children to commit a crime and subsequently find themselves being hauled off to jail for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

It’s a bit of an exaggeration, I know, but it’s really not so farfetched when you think about it. What were once considered sound principles or morals in our parents’ day, many years ago, are now deemed unacceptable for the most part.

Not to worry!

The government has come up with some “guidelines” for helping children to recognize bullying and stop it immediately.

The stopbullying.gov website teaches children how to identify bullying by defining it as:

Bullying Definition

Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time.
