WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Obama has announced Loretta Lynch the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York as his nominee to replace Eric Holder. Lynch will need to be confirmed by the Senate before taking the reins of the embattled Department of Justice. The question remains — will she be confirmed by this current Senate or the one slated to be sworn in during January of next year?

Lynch would be the first African-American woman to hold the post. Lynch holds both an undergraduate degree and her law degree from Harvard. She has worked in the …read more
