Bismarck, ND -(AmmoLand.com)- Brian McCoy, 42, is Delta Waterfowl’s 2015 Volunteer of the Year. He topped a field of seven finalists during a month-long, online vote.

“Brian is a hugely valuable volunteer because he tries to do something every day to better Delta Waterfowl, his chapter and the opportunities for North Carolina duck hunters,” said Chris Williams, the Delta Waterfowl senior regional director who nominated McCoy. “He’s driven to succeed and constantly finding new ways to be of service.”

McCoy’s interest in Delta arose when a ban on duck hunting loomed for North Carolina’s Lake Norman. A friend of McCoy’s contacted Delta, which stepped in to dissolve the anti-hunting proposal — it’s since been defeated a second time. Recognizing Delta’s steadfast commitment to duck hunters, McCoy promptly became a founding member of the Lake Norman Chapter. He’s been a loyal, dedicated volunteer ever since.

His more recent efforts as co-chairman of the Lake Norman Chapter are numerous, but his four years of consistent, statewide volunteerism are what truly set him apart. Among other services to Delta Waterfowl, he’s twice made possible a “Faces of Freedom” veterans hunt that required an 11-hour round-trip.
