GREENSBORO, NC — A harrowing day for one of North Carolina’s largest cities saw a staggering three homicides in less than seven hours, all of which seem to be completely unrelated.

The News and Record reports that deaths of that number in that time haven’t happened in a long, long time.

“I don’t recall anything in that frequency of time in my career,” said Greensboro Police Chief Wayne Scott according to the News and Record, who has reportedly served as a police officer in Greensboro for 26 years. “And hopefully we never see it again.”

As the News and Record reports: “Police are still looking for the crime scene of the first shooting. Officers responded about 4:20 p.m. Thursday to Moses Cone Hospital after 25-year-old James Will Johnson of Greensboro arrived with a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead.”

Things only got worse from there.

“About 8:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the 3100 block of Utah Place on a shots-fired call and found 37-year-old Larry Wayne Pratt of Greensboro dead with a gunshot wound to the head.”
