PIERRE, S.D. -(Ammoland.com)- The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department would like to remind waterfowl hunters that the August Management Take season for Canada geese is limited to the area of Pennington County, west of the Cheyenne River.

That season runs from Aug. 19 – Aug. 31.

All areas in eastern South Dakota are closed.

For a majority of the state (Unit 1), waterfowl hunters will be able to hunt Canada geese from Sept. 2 – Dec. 17, with a daily limit of 15 in September and 8 geese from Oct. 1 – Dec. 17.

There are commercial game processors that will accept the donation of Canada geese during the August Management Take and for a portion of the Early Fall Canada Goose seasons.
