TOPS is known for making tank-tough knives and axes, and the company certainly won’t disappoint in 2016.

New for this year, the company has introduced the Vi Ax — short for Viking ax — and it earns that title by being a big, heavy ax made from a solid piece of 1095 steel. The Vi Ax is designed to tear through anything you throw at it. The steel has a black traction coating for corrosion resistance, and the handle scales are made of linen Micarta for enhanced control in slippery or wet conditions.

Another new TOPS introduction is the Fieldcraft Folder. Like the older Fieldcraft fixed blade, this folding knife was designed by the Brothers of Bushcraft. Here the blade is also made of 1095 steel while the frame is made from 154 CM stainless steel. The frame is then fitted with tan canvas Micarta handle scales for an optimum grip. The pocket clip is also reversible.
