SAN ANTONIO –-(Ammoland.com)- The world’s best skeet shooters will convene September 28 – October 7 at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas, as the National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) hosts its 82nd annual World Skeet Championships. NSSA expects approximately 900 shotgunners to compete for World Championship titles in several skeet categories.
Any NSSA member can participate in the World Skeet Championships, as shooters compete not only in the Open category, but also against others of similar ability and in concurrents determined by age and gender.
While the main event of the 10-day tournament takes place over the final five days, a series of registered events will comprise the entire 2017 World Skeet Championships, beginning with a 4×50 shoot on September 28. In the 4×50 event, participants shoot 50 targets each in 12-gauge, 20-gauge, 28-gauge, and .410 bore. On the following day, the Mini World – which began many years ago as a warm-up for the World Shoot but has evolved into a major competitive event of its own – begins with Doubles competition, followed by events in all four gauges/bore.
