Mossberg warns that if a Maverick Hunter is incorrectly marked with the 3-5-inch chamber, it is part of the recall
O.F. Mossberg & Sons issued a recall warning for certain Maverick shotguns that have been marked with an incorrect chambering.
The company warns the marking indicates that the shotguns are chambered for 3.5-inch shells, but they’re actually chambered for 2.75- and 3-inch shells only.
“All Maverick Hunter shotguns are manufactured with 3” chambers, not 3 ½” chambers,” warns Mossberg in an official product safety warning and recall. “Firing 3 ½” shotshells through these shotguns may cause an increase in chamber pressure, which may result in damage to your shotgun and/or severe personal injury if a barrel should rupture as a result of excess pressure.”
Mossberg warns that if a Maverick Hunter is incorrectly marked with the 3-5-inch chamber, it is part of the recall. Those affected should contact Maverick who will provide a prepaid shipping label for the shotgun to return it to the service center and a replacement gun will be sent in its place.
For those who may have passed their Hunter on as a sale, trade or gift, the company asks that you contact Maverick so that they can reach out to
