The newest scattergun line under Mossberg’s sunny skies adds detachable five-, 10-, 15- and 20-round capacity magazines to its tried-and-true 590 pumps.
Shown off at Industry Day on Monday in the pre-game event for SHOT Show proper was the new Mossberg 590M mag-fed 12-gauge line featuring a patented double-stack magazine in various sizes.
The shotguns themselves use 18.5-inch barrels and are available in two different flavors — a basic cylinder bore for $721 and or with an Accu-Choke, heat shield and ghost ring sights for $821– each with a 10-round magazine included. Optional mags range from $101-$140 depending on size.
The 5-round magazine is a tad over 5-inches high and weighs just under a pound.
The 20, unloaded, is about as long as a meatball sub and weights 1.7-pounds.
The 5 and 20 rounders stacked up against each other. For comparison, Izmash-marked Saiga 8-round single stacks are about 9-inches long.
