Authorities filed felony charges against a Detroit-area man who claims he acted in self-defense when he opened fire on a teen knocking on his door.
Jeff Ziegler, a 53-year-old retired Detroit firefighter, was arraigned on felony charges for possession of a firearm and assault with intent to murder. His bond was set at $50,000. At the arraignment, Zeigler entered a plea of not guilty.
Authorities said Ziegler on Friday morning allegedly chased after 14-year-old Brennan Walker because he and his wife believed Walker was trying to break into their home.
However, Walker said was attempting to ask for directions after missing the bus to school. He got lost and couldn’t remember the route.
