Michigan DNR Fisheries Division Recognizes Partners for Critical Work

Michigan -(Ammoland.com)- The Department of Natural Resources, Fisheries Division recently presented five Outstanding Partnership Awards to recognize individuals and organizations outside the division or the department that have shown dedication and enthusiasm in helping to provide recreational fisheries and/or protection of Michigan’s fishery resources.

The awards were given during a banquet at the 2015 Fisheries Division-wide meeting held December 2 at Shanty Creek Resort in Bellaire. The recipients included:

• Roger Greil with Lake Superior State University Aquatic Research Lab (ARL)
• Roger was recognized for his assistance via the ARL, which has reared Atlantic salmon for educational purposes and stocking since 1987. Since that time, the ARL has stocked almost 1 million yearling Atlantic salmon in the St. Marys River, creating a world-class fishery for that species and training many DNR Fisheries Division employees.
• Explore the Shores Initiative at the Alliance for Economic Success & Manistee County Community Foundation
