Billed as being made for those inclined to both embrace and buck tradition at the same time, Marlin‘s new Dark series adds modern features to venerable cowboy guns.
The new take on lever-action rifles, available for the 336 and 1895 lines, blends a matte black parkerized finish with black-webbed hardwood furniture. Standard features include a factory-threaded barrel, big-loop lever and XS Lever Rail with ghost ring peep that can accommodate optics.
Barrels are 16.25-inches long on both models, translating to a 34.5-inch overall length for these noir brush guns. Weight is 7.65-pounds and both carbines use a five-shot tubular magazine.

The stocks are painted hardwood with a black webbing texture to match the black parkerized finish on the receiver and barrel. Marlin had both models on display at the 148th NRAAM in Indianapolis last week.
The 1895 Dark, a .45-70 thumper, uses 11/16x24TPI threads.
The big loop comes standard with a paracord wrap while the rifles ship with a paracord sling and swivels. MSRP is set at $949.
