CLEVELAND, OH — An off-duty sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a pit bull after it attacked a woman (its owner) and a six-year-old girl, the Associated Press reports via US News.

Police report that the 32-year-old woman was attacked by her own dog, but did not mention the reason behind the attack.

A young girl was also attacked.

The deputy shot and killed the animal.

The young girl was taken to the hospital, where she was reported to be in critical condition as of July 5.
