Man finds loaded gun while mowing neighbor’s lawn

While mowing his neighbor’s lawn Monday afternoon, a Dayton man was surprised to find a loaded revolver on the ground.
The man, who only wanted to be identified as Brent, called the police just before 1 p.m., who promptly came to the home and took the weapon. Brent said he almost ran over the gun before he saw it and, at first, he wasn’t sure if it was even real.
“You’ve got little kids around here, and little kids don’t know any better, the gun’s loaded,” the man said, adding, “I could have shot myself.”
Authorities gave no immediate indication where they believe the weapon could have come from, but an officer on the scene noted it was a bit rusty.
