Maine Action Needed: Anti-Gun Bill Expected for House Floor Vote
In the near future, the Legislative Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety will be releasing a divided “Ought to Pass” report on Legislative Document 351, sponsored by state Representative John Spear (D-92). This proposal would allow municipalities to prohibit firearm owners from carrying during municipal public proceedings and in polling places. Currently, individuals can lawfully carry a firearm into a polling place and other public buildings where it is not prohibited under state or federal law.
