SANTA FE, TEXAS — A high school in Texas became the target of a gunman this morning as classes were starting for the day. The incident happened at Santa Fe High School, which is located about 40 miles outside of Houston.

There is some confusion as to how many suspects there were this morning, and authorities are still working out the details.

Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trouchesset said authorities have arrested one person and are still trying to determine if there is more than one shooter.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a tweet that two people have been taken into custody and that an officer is being treated for injuries.

As of this article, at least 8 people are said to have been killed in the incident.

A statement was released by the Santa Fe Independent School District and reads as follows:

“This morning an incident occurred at the high school involving an active shooter. The situation is active, but has been contained. There have been confirmed injuries.
