It’s Time to Take Action!

KS: Senate Committee Hearing on Self-Defense Legislation Containing Hostile Amendment

Kansas – -(Ammoland.com)- Last week, the Kansas House of Representatives passed two gun bills on Final Action, and sent them to the Senate.

The Senate Committee on Federal and State Affairs will hold hearings tomorrow (Tuesday, February 13) on both HB2042 and HB2145.

For the sake of background…

HB2042 started out as a bill allowing 18 to 21-year-olds with valid concealed carry permits from reciprocal states to again legally carry in Kansas. This wasn’t an issue until a drafting error in another bill last session unintentionally caused a mixup in statute. During floor debate on HB2042 last week, the House amended the bill to allow Kansas citizens ages 18 through 20 to carry a concealed firearm with a concealed carry license. Unfortunately, the bill was also amended to require anyone carrying a firearm on a college campus to have a concealed carry permit.
