Florida-based Kel-Tec has announced a recall of some Sub-2000 rifles made in 2017 due to an issue with the heat treatment of some steel tubes made to manufacture barrels.
Kel-Tec warns in the recall notice that the tubes were from a third-party supplier and a limited number of barrels were made from the material. “The safety of our customers is our primary concern, so Kel‐Tec has voluntarily initiated this recall because of the possibility of a barrel rupturing,” says Kel-Tec.
The company has released a list of serial number ranges subject to the recall and has advised they will cover all costs of replacing the barrels.
