Criminals gotta criminal. I don’t approve, but there it is. The problem with a lot of criminals: they’re not the sharpest tools in the box. Drive-by shootings, for example, are a pretty poor way of killing a targeted individual or group, and an excellent way to injure or kill innocent bystanders (a consequence that heavily incentivizes police to capture the culprits). By the same token, bad guys are not known for their firearms skills: marksmanship, strategy, handling or storage. Speaking of storage . . .

Members of the Sheriff’s [Durham, NC] Anti-Crime Narcotic Unit searched the home at 303 Laurel Oaks Drive.

A loaded AR-15 assault rifle and a loaded .45-caliber handgun were found under a mattress in a child’s bedroom, authorities said.

Authorities also seized a loaded Glock .40-caliber handgun with a loaded 50-round drum magazine, boxes of ammunition, 495 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $20,000, more than $1,800 in U.S. currency, 123 grams of marijuana, and digital scales.
