Republican presidential aspirant Carly Fiorina reacted Thursday evening on The Dana Show to Calif. Sen. Barbara Boxer’s (D) claim that “sensible gun laws work.”

One day after the San Bernardino, Calif., shooting that left at least 14 dead, Boxer insisted that California has “proven” gun laws work.

Fiorina, Boxer’s 2010 senatorial rival, was quick to respond, saying, “It’s just a nonsensical statement.”

In addition to Fiorina, many on Twitter launched criticisms aimed at Boxer’s statement.

The GOP hopeful told show host Dana Loesch that California is a state with “some of the strictest gun control laws in the country” and that they “didn’t do anything to prevent” Wednesday’s shooting.

Fiorina went on to say the laws in place in South Carolina did not stop the shooting at Emanuel A.M.E. church, adding that the FBI later confirmed shooter Dylann Roof should have never been allowed to purchase a gun.

“There is just example, after example, after example of where the laws we have on the books are never enforced and yet Democrats always want more laws,” Fiorina said.
