A New Orleans man who forced his way into an Amite residence late Wednesday was shot in the leg during a fight with one of the occupants, Tangipahoa authorities said. Dequincy Jackson, 36, suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper thigh. According to the Sheriff’s Office, he entered the residence on Richardson Road around 9:30 p.m. and encountered a man who demanded he leave. Jackson and the man, a 25-year-old Roseland resident who was a guest in the home, got into a fight, resulting in Jackson being shot in the leg. Jackson remained hospitalized Thursday morning.
