Washington-based gun maker Hurricane Butterfly showcased an HK416 — the weapon used to take out Osama Bin Laden — modified into as a pistol during SHOT Show 2019 in Las Vegas.
Hurricane’s CEO Jason Wong explained that the design had been restricted to law enforcement and military, but now with Hurricane’s modifications the gun is available for the civilian gun loving public.
“This is a semi-auto 416 pistol configuration, we found semi-auto receivers in Europe, sourced them, and assembled them into complete weapons,” Wong said, describing the firearm.
Although Hurricane assembled it using some non-Heckler & Koch parts, the configuration is very nearly identical to the design used to kill Bin Laden.
“Except for the barrel and the rear end it is a legit, complete HK416. It’s kind of a unicorn gun that shouldn’t exist,” Wong said and explained that the gun is equipped with a Lothar Walther blank barrel that has been treated and cut to HK specs.
If you wanna ride unicorns you’re gonna have to pay the price. Because of the type and how rare this gun is Hurricane Butterfly has put a premium on it, with the MSRP set at $12,500. “I get it, you can build a clone for a lot
